Surfrider Summer Movie Nights Part 1

Beginning May 23rd 2015 Surfrider Oahu is launching a summer movie night fundraiser event series, putting to use our large outdoor projection screen. A couple of our awesome volunteers and supporters (The Dales) have offered their beautiful backyard in Kailua to host part 1 of this series. Each event will benefit a specific campaign of Surfrider Oahu, so we are asking for a $10 minimum donation to help support the cause. Please feel free to give more if you can and we will acknowledge major donors as sponsors of specific campaigns.

In May your donations will go towards the re-launch of the Oahu Blue Water Task Force, our water quality monitoring initiative. Recent reports around the island indicate a serious decline in water quality in major surf and recreation areas all over Oahu. Though Department of Health does some testing, their efforts do not extend to some major areas of concern. Our goal is to provide reportable data to make sure that our human and marine ecosystem health is monitored and preserved for generations to come. Specifically your donations will go towards necessary testing equipment as well as a training course for our core volunteers who will be our field testers at a minimum of three important sites around the island.

Movie Night Details & Schedule:

• Please Bring your own Blanket or small lawn/beach chair to sit on the grass
• We will have a donation bar with Kona Beer & Barefoot Wine, but you can also bring your own food and drink
• Please Do Not park in neighbor’s yards, there is a park just down the street to park in front of and please carpool to limit the impact on the neighborhood.
• Movie will be announced two weeks prior to event

5:30-6:30 PM – Check-in, Talk Story

6:30-7:00 PM – Announcements and introduction to Blue Water Task Force

7:00-9:00 PM – Movie

9:00-9:30 PM – Final Words, Pau!
