Honolulu, HI (July 1, 2011) Come get involved with the Surfrider Foundation! Please join us for the monthly Oahu Chapter General Meeting on Wednesday July 6th from 7 - 9pm at the Kewalo Basin Marina. We’re holding this chapter meeting in a special location: on the Sea Dragon research vessel owned by the Algalita Marine Research Foundation (Capt Charlie Moore’s organization).
Head down to the Kewalo Basin Marina and look for us on the dock. All are welcome! The meeting is potluck-style so please bring something to share if you want. Also, please carpool as parking is limited. You can RSVP to the meeting here.
Help send off the crew of the Sea Dragon who will be collecting more data from the North Pacific Gyre. Over the past decade, Algalita voyages have sailed between California and Hawaii, mainly in the Eastern portion of the Gyre. In 2009, Algalita went as far west as the International Date Line collecting samples, but this is the first time they will go as far north as Canada. During 2010 and early 2011, Algalita joined the another partner organization, the 5 Gyres Institute, in sampling throughout the North and South Atlantic Gyres, the Indian Ocean and most recently, the South Pacific Gyre. Come and meet the crew from 6pm to 7pm at Kewalo Basin Boat Harbor. Just look for the Surfrider Banner. Our monthly meeting will be held on the boat/dock immediately after the meet and greet session. Hope to see you there!
