Honolulu, HI (June 9, 2011) – In celebration of the 7th Annual International Surfing Day on June 20th, the Surfrider Foundation’s Oahu Chapter is hosting a Father’s Day beach cleanup at Diamond Head from 10am – 12pm on Sunday June 19th. Along with Surfing Magazine, Barefoot Wines will be sponsoring the event and hosting a lunch and party afterward at Tiki’s Grill and Bar from 12pm – 2pm, with live music, delicious food and cool prizes. All beach cleanup volunteers are invited!
WHAT: International Surfing Day
Founded six years ago by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine, International Surfing Day unites surfers from around the world in celebration of the sport of surfing. As is tradition with the annual holiday, surfers will do their part to give back to our oceans, waves and beaches through various organized events such as clean-ups and restoration projects courtesy of the Surfrider Foundation.

EVENT COST: Free and open to the public!
WHAT TO BRING: sunscreen, hat, work gloves, old colanders, water bottles, friends, and a great attitude! Bring any plastic grocery bags you have to give them a second life as trash bags. We’ll have coolers and other supplies.
