The Surfrider Foundation UH Mānoa Student Club and the University of Hawaiʻi Office of Sustainability would like to invite you to come learn more about zero waste through a hands on waste audit experience on the UH Mānoa campus!

On Thursday, October 19th and Friday, October 20th from 8:30AM-1:30PM @ Legacy Path (the walkway between Campus Center and the Law School) we will be conducting an expansive waste characterization study to inform systemic change that can address our campus waste generation. We’d love your help sorting, categorizing and weighing the waste we find!

This is a engaging opportunity to learn about the university’s waste profile (and opportunities to reduce it), the power of Zero Waste to mitigate our greenhouse gas footprint, and to generate data that will help achieve the university’s sustainability goals.  Ultimately, we hope to create an audit template that can be used at other UH campuses to inform system-wide shifts!

This volunteer opportunity can help fill out service hours requirements for students too.  Off-campus community members are welcome to join as well!

Gloves, water, snacks and positive vibes will be provided :).
